We are looking for immediate hires in Mathematics and Literacy (ENL License)!

We are a small, vibrant multicultural community (over 60 nationalities and 40 languages spoken) serving multilingual students who are new learners of English.

Our school mission is: To develop in each of our new learners of English the linguistic, cognitive and cultural skills necessary for informed and creative participation in our diverse society. We are part of the New York Performance Standards Consortium and The International Network for Public Schools.

Mathematics:

We are looking for a qualified candidate to teach Math to our Multilingual Learners (MLL's). This teacher will be part of a mixed 10th/11th grade team. We seek someone who is excited about teaching Math in a creative way.

Must have a willingness to incorporate literacy skills and learn the Internationals model for teaching MLL's. An interest in technology, computer science and experience with MLL’s is a plus.


Literacy:

We are looking for a qualified candidate to teach Literacy to our Multilingual Learners (MLL's). This teacher will be part of a 9th grade team.

Strong applicants for this teaching position will demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Design and teach curricula to heterogeneous classes of English language learners of many academic levels, languages, and cultures.

  • Link subject area curricula to the school’s themes and incorporate discussion of current events, hands-on experiences in the community, and meaningful connection to students’ interests and experiences.

  • Create project-based curricula and use performance-based assessment.

  • Use inquiry-based approach to teach interdisciplinary classes.

  • Work in a close-knit team of 5-6 teachers of various disciplines to plan content and language instruction and create a supportive community for our diverse students. Also, work collaboratively with other teachers to design curricula and assessments, and to support each other in improving teaching practices.

  • Teach community building, identity development, reflective writing, and interest exploration.

  • Participate in developing and implementing new ideas into the school.


Must have a willingness to incorporate literacy skills and learn the Internationals model for teaching MLL's. An interest in technology and experience with MLL’s is a plus.
